Cancer Care Navigators
A Cancer Care Navigator is here to offer people affected by cancer practical advice and support, address any unmet needs and answer your non-medical questions. We currently have two cancer navigators who cover Felixstowe, Aldeburgh, Saxmundham and Leiston.
The Cancer Wellbeing and Information Centre sends a letter and information pack to all newly diagnosed patients to tell them about the services and support available.
Your GP practice will also contact you within three months of diagnosis to check how you are and address any needs or concerns
The cancer navigators will contact you five to six months after diagnosis to talk to you and offer an appointment to meet them in your local area to discuss any needs or concerns and provide support closer to home
By contacting you at this time it is an opportunity to revisit the support and services on offer and ensure you have all the information and help you need at this time.
Understanding how we can best support you with what matters most to you.
Addressing your needs, including physical, practical, emotional, spiritual, financial support and advice.
Providing a listening ear.
Signposting and referring you to helpful organisations and initiatives.
Helping you to improve your health and wellbeing, accessing physical activity and exercise.
Giving you advice about support groups and what is on offer in your area.
